(Katrina)

Link: The Department of Health and Human Services has established a Medical Travel Center, with travel funded by the federal government, to support the return to home states of patients and others with medical needs evacuated from Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi after hurricanes Katrina and Rita. For more on the center and answers to related questions, see the HHS Fact Sheet. The AHA today issued an advisory to hospitals on the issue.

File: Attachment can be used by the centers that are caring for these displaced patients, in order for them to obtain PhosLo® Tablets at no charge. Once the form is faxed to the number listed on the form, the order will be filled and sent to the center via Fed-Ex for delivery the next business day. Each patient listed on the form will receive two stock bottles of PhosLo® Tablets. This should provide the patient with a 1 ½ to 2-month supply. Information: Tulane University Hospital & Clinic sustained flood damage but clean up is under way with over 1,500 workers on site. Tulane Center for Adbominal Transplant is moving location to Lakeview in Covington, which is on the northshore, temporarily pending re-opening of the downtown campus. Intensive preparations are under way to ensure all necessary services are in place before begining organ transplants at the new site.
Pre and post transplant care has been provided in Lafayette and Baton Rouge and will begin next week in Covington. Patients and physicians or dialysis units may contact us through our main office number which is (504)988-5344 or (888)988-5344.
